EZWILL Privacy Notice

1. Scope; who we serve

Our Site is intended primarily to provide self-help software and materials for users interested in creating and managing Will and estate-planning information, especially for Indians and NRIs with assets or family connections in India.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as “selling” or “sharing” under certain U.S. state privacy laws.

2. Personal information we obtain

We obtain information (i) when you visit or use the Site; (ii) when you create an account; (iii) when you complete the Will wizard or generate documents; (iv) when you pay for a plan; (v) about others you enter; and (vi) automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

2.1 Account and contact

• Name and email address;
• Password (stored in hashed form, not plain text);
• Account preferences and support messages you send to support@ezwill.in.

2.2 Will and estate-planning information you submit

Depending on how you use EZWILL, you may provide:

• Date of birth, gender, marital status, religion (where relevant to your Will choices);
• Addresses (current, permanent, India correspondence);
• Telephone number;
• Citizenship or residency status (for example, resident Indian, NRI, or OCI);
• Government or identity identifiers you choose to enter, such as Aadhaar, PAN, passport, or OCI details;
• Names and details of spouse, children, dependents, pets, executors, trustees, guardians, beneficiaries, and witnesses;
• Descriptions of assets (for example, property in India, bank accounts, investments, business interests, digital assets);
• Allocation percentages and specific bequests;
• Funeral, memorial, or end-of-life preferences;
• Any other information you enter in the wizard or related forms.

This information may be highly sensitive. Use a secure device and network, and protect your login credentials.

2.3 Information about others

You may enter information about family members, executors, or other individuals. Do not provide information about others unless you are authorized or have their consent to do so. We use their information only to provide the Services you request.

2.4 Payment information

• Billing email and transaction metadata when you purchase Guided Will (currently our only purchasable plan);
• Payment card data is processed by Stripe (or another processor we use). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

2.5 Information collected automatically

• IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, and timestamps;
• Session and authentication cookies necessary for login and security;
• Log and security data (for example, failed logins);
• Analytics data if we use tools such as Google Analytics (we will describe non-essential cookies below and update this Notice when we do).

3. How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Services (including storing your progress, generating preview and final PDFs, and authenticating your account);
• Send transactional emails (verification codes, password resets, security alerts, receipts, and service notices);
• Process payments and fulfill Guided Will and any other plans we make available for purchase on the Site;
• Share information with independent lawyers or third-party providers only if you purchase an optional add-on that requires it and that add-on is available for purchase on the Site;
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service;
• Create aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not identify you.

We may send marketing emails only where permitted by law and with your consent or an applicable exemption. You may unsubscribe from marketing using the link in those messages. Transactional emails are not marketing.

Communications with EZWILL are not protected by attorney–client privilege. EZWILL is not a law firm.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where required, we rely on contract (to provide the Services), legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud prevention), consent (where required for cookies or marketing), and legal obligation.

5. How we share information

We may share information with:

• Service providers under contract, including hosting, Amazon Web Services (AWS) (for example, email via SES), Stripe, and support tools;
• Professional service providers (for example, independent lawyers in India) only when you purchase an available add-on such as Expert Review, if and when offered;
• Parties you authorize if a feature allows you to share a document with a named recipient;
• Legal and safety: when we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security;
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your Will contents with lawyers or registration providers unless you purchase an available service that requires it.

6. International transfers

LINK R US LLC is based in the United States (Virginia). Your information may be stored and processed in the United States and where our providers operate (including AWS and Stripe regions).

If you are in the UK, EEA, Canada, or India, we implement appropriate safeguards where required (for example, standard contractual clauses) for transfers to the United States.

7. Retention

We retain personal information as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal, tax, security, or backup purposes.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and device.

We aim to minimize collection of the most sensitive identifiers where the product allows. You are responsible for reviewing printed documents before signing.

If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as required by applicable law.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

United States: Residents of states such as California and Virginia may have additional rights. We do not sell personal information as described above.

Canada: You may have rights under applicable privacy laws.

India: If the Digital Personal Data Protection Act or related rules apply to our processing, you may have rights to notice, correction, erasure, and grievance redressal. Contact us at support@ezwill.in.

How to exercise rights: Email support@ezwill.in with subject “Privacy Request,” your account email, and the right you wish to exercise. We may verify your identity. We will respond within timeframes required by law.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies necessary for login, security, and basic functionality. If we use optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this Notice and, where required, obtain consent before non-essential cookies in your region.

You can control cookies through browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent use of the Services.

11. Children

EZWILL is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact support@ezwill.in if you believe a child has provided information.

12. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party services (for example, Stripe checkout). Their practices are governed by their own policies.

13. Disputes

Disputes relating to this Privacy Notice or our handling of personal information are subject to our Terms of Service, including binding individual arbitration, waiver of jury trial, and class action waiver, except where applicable law requires otherwise. See Terms Section 15.

14. Changes to this Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes may be communicated by email or a Site notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Notice.
